Udaya Privacy Policy
Effective 13 October 2026 · App: Udaya: Daily Bhagavad Gita (com.elitecorner.udaya) · Developer: Elite Corner
What stays on your phone
Your journal notes, reflections and rest days, bookmarks, highlights, reading-plan progress, streak and settings are saved in an encrypted database on your device. They are never uploaded by Udaya. The home-screen widget and the optional lock-screen picture are made on the phone from the day's verse. Morning notifications are scheduled locally by Android.
Android backup
If Android backup is turned on in your phone's settings, Android may copy Udaya's database (and the key that unlocks it) to your own Google account and restore it when you set up a new phone. This is run by Google under your Google account and its encryption; we cannot access it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings.
Ask (questions about the Gita)
When you use Ask, the app sends your question to our server so that an AI model can answer it from the Gita's verses. What is sent:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your question, the verse you are asking about (if any), up to two earlier questions and answers from the same conversation, and whether you prefer the plain or the traditional translation | To answer your question |
| Your phone's region (two letters, such as "IN") | Only to show the right crisis helpline if a question suggests you are in danger |
| A random code that changes every month | To limit how many questions can be asked each day. It identifies no one; the server keeps only a one-way, day-specific form of it until the next day |
Our server runs on Cloudflare and does not store or log questions or answers. Your question and the verses are passed to Google's Gemini API, which writes the answer as our service provider. Under its paid-service terms Google does not use this data to improve its products; it may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse. Never sent with a question: your notes, bookmarks, streak, name, email or any device identifier. Answers are written by AI and can be wrong.
Reporting an answer: if you report an answer, we receive the answer, the reason you chose and any note you write. We keep reports for 30 days to improve Ask. No question or ID is attached.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, Udaya sends an anonymous report to Sentry, our crash-reporting provider: the error and where it happened in the code, the app and Android versions, the device model, and a random installation ID that Sentry creates. Reports never include your notes, questions, what you read or anything you type. You can turn crash reports off at any time in Settings → Your privacy.
What we do not collect
No account, name, email, contacts, location, photos, health data, advertising ID or analytics. Udaya shows no ads. Sharing a verse as an image goes only where you choose through Android's share sheet.
Permissions
- Notifications (asked only if you turn on the morning verse): to show the day's verse.
- Run at startup: to keep the morning verse and the lock-screen picture scheduled after a restart.
- Set wallpaper (used only if you turn on "Today's verse on my lock screen"): to set your lock-screen picture each morning.
- Internet: only for Ask and crash reports.
Children
Udaya is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. We hold no personal data linked to anyone; if you have a concern, contact us.
Deleting your data
Everything Udaya keeps is on your phone: delete notes or bookmarks in the app, or uninstall Udaya to remove it all. Questions to Ask are not stored, so there is nothing to delete. To have a report you sent deleted before its 30 days are up, or a crash report removed, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
